Die Briefe werden im Kontext des literarischen Nachlasses Vasaris geprüft und insbesondere im Zusammenhang mit der historischen Wiederzusammenstellung seines "carteggio" (Briefverkehr), zunächst im sechzehnten bis neunzehnten Jahrhundert, dann mit der Wiederentdeckung des Vasari-Archivs durch Giovanni Poggi im Jahr 1908, mit der anschließenden Veröffentlichung des Nachlasses von Karl Frey 1923-1930 und schließlich im Rahmen der jüngsten Entwicklungen analysiert. Ernst Steinmanns Bericht (1910), "Zur Publikation des Vasari-Archivs", ist hier als Volltext enthalten. | ||

These letters are considered in the context of Vasari’s literary remains, and, in particular, in the context of the historical reassembly of his "carteggio" (Briefverkehr; correspondence), first in the sixteenth to nineteenth centuries, and then with the rediscovery of the Vasari Archive by Giovanni Poggi in 1908, and its subsequent publication by Karl Frey in 1923-1930, and finally in the context of more recent developments.
