Notes: | The short story takes place during the German occupation of Lithuania, in the summer of 1941. A group of ten civilian is taken prisoner by the Lithuanian Police, on the charge of "following the bolsheviks", and brought to a prison cell. Among them is a mother with a baby; some of the prisoners are Jewish. The story, focused on the conjectures, fears and speculations of the prisoners, closes when the chief of the Lithuanian police decides to let the prisoners free. |
