Nótaí:Article on a possible prototype of Tevye's character, in Sholem Aleykhem's novel "Tevye der milkkhiker". A peasant, by the name of Tevel, living in the village of Zabirie and selling his merchandises in the city of Boyerke (Boyberik in Sh. Aleykhem), is apparently the historical figure on which the author formed his Tevye. The name "Tevel" appears twice in Sh. Aleykhem's novel. Tevel is historically traced, his house is still existent.
