Notes: | In the first short story, "A mayse mit an akshn" the protagonist's stubbornness and obstinacy bring him to extreme consequences. The second short story, "A mayse mit a khasene" plays on a kind of "comedy of errors", in that the protagonist, invited to a wedding party, goes to the wrong wedding party. In the third one, "A mayse mit a keml", the surreal protagonist is a camel brought to Saratov and left there by a Kazakh soldier going to the war front. Common to the three narratives is the absurdity and bizzarreness of the happenings. |
