| Notes: | The article summarizes the biography of Henekh Kazakevitsh (1883-1935), a widely known and esteemed intellectual in the Yiddish literary - and more generally cultural arena. Kazakevitsh was editor of a number of yiddish journal and newspapers, among them " Komunistishe fon" (Kiev 1921), "Di royte velt", "Der shtern". He moved to Birobidzshan in 1932, the first noted intellectual to do so; he was there editor of the journal "Birobidzshaner shtern", leading force of the Yiddish theatre and of the Library of Birobidzshan. |
